Listening Back
My new favorite CD is a copy of the band's second jam session, which we did last Sunday. Oddly enough, we were all disappointed at the end of the jam, and as we wrapped up our cables we hypothesized over what had gone wrong. Apparently nothing did, really. It goes to show that you can't always trust first impressions.
I wonder what that implies for CD reviews. How do you properly review the kind of album that grows on you over the course of several days, or even years?
Here's what I wrote as the track names (we did a couple of my finished songs, just to shake things up a little):
1. theme for public radio 2. afternoon in off-white 3. why do you 4. feeling gravity's one 5. rain in england 6. tension 7. vienna's idea, taken a tad fast 8. urbanismo 9. tunnel 4 10. in my arrival 11. eli's revenge
I'm contemplating making 30-second excerpts from some of these and posting them in songscraps. I'll run it by the guys and see if they're okay with it.
Off I go to Red Rock!
