Happy New Everything to all of you out there...
Things are gathering speed around these parts. I'm putting a band together for playing out after the album release, which looks like it'll be happening in about a month and a half. I shouldn't say that; public announcements from an inside source are always taken seriously, and I don't really know what I'm talking about, this being my first time trying the whole album thing. Bad marketing on my part. But now that the mixing is done, it's largely out of Eric's and my hands, and up to the mastering studio and manufacturer. We'll see.
Eric finally gave me a mix of the alternate version of Gravity a few weeks ago, which we recorded sometime in September I believe. I'd rather forgotten the different kind of light it shines on the song's curves and edges. Since the piano is sparser, I'll probably use it as the basis for the full band arrangement.
And yes, I'll likely post a copy in songscraps soon.
I've been having a curious sort of dry spell for the past few months, in which I've started about ten songs from different origins and run out of steam before any of them were completed. One of them seems to be coming out hibernation, though: a mostly three-chorder about a road trip home, a girl dealing rather well with being scared out of her wits. Kind of like Enough To Go By without the self-confidence. Working title (read: permanent title) is "Shasta." Maybe I'll post it in songscraps too.
Take care until next time.
