I ordered several for XMAS gifts. There's no sales tax and shipping is free. It would behoove the record company to keep the big online merchants stocked up. (They probably have some kind of just-in-time system).
I think mp3s are a "double-edged sword". It can help to sell albums and it could lose some sales.
